Hat Day – Friday, January 27th!

On Friday, January 27, the C.A. Gray Relay for Life committee will be hosting a Hat Day. Students who wish to participate should bring $.50 and the hat of his or her choice. First period teachers will collect the money and provide each student with a sticker to place on his or her hat to show he or she has paid. Thanks in advance to all who will be participating in the worthy cause of finding a cure for cancer!

Gray Drama Students Present: “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus” (S. Hohnadel)

On December 9th and 10th at 7:30 p.m. in the C.A. Gray cafeteria, 9th grade drama students will be presenting a play entitled “The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus.” Doors will open at 7:00 p.m., and tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults. (That’s cheaper than a ticket at the movie theater!) Everyone come out and support our students’ hard work as well as the direction of Ms. Sara Hohnadel and Mr. Scott Dickson (advisors for Gray’s Drama program).

Coffee House Poetry Slam (S. Hohnadel)

On Wednesday, November 30, Ms. Hohnadel’s classes will be hosting a Coffee House style Poetry Slam. Students will be Spoken Word Artists for a day by reciting their own original poetry. Teachers, administrators, and staff members are invited to come and listen to students’ poems in Room 529. There will be food and drinks available. Due to lack of space in the classroom, attendees should be limited to those mentioned earlier (teachers, administrators, or staff members).

As a point of interest, the kick-off for the game against Grayson this Friday night will be 7:00 pm. The early start time is due to the live coverage by Georgia Public Broadcasting. If you can not attend, make sure to tune in to Georgia Public Broadcasting or watch online at http://www.gpb.org/sports/football/match/2011/12/02/class-aaaaa-semifinals-game-1 or listen to the play-by-play on Crusin94.

2011 Fall Exam Schedule

All teachers should follow the schedule as outlined. There are no exceptions. If a student needs extended time provide that time at your discretion.

Grade Reporting:

1. Grades are due on Thursday, January 5th at 4:00 p.m.

2. Report cards will be given out on Monday, January 10th, 2011 at the end of the day.

3. The maximum grade a student can earn in any class is 100.

4. Teachers will not be asked to give a NC (no credit) for a student’s semester grade. NC’s will be identified through the attendance appeal process and if a student has not met seat time requirements

5. Transfer students – If a student transferred into your class without a transfer grade and has not met the seat time requirement because of enrolling after the mid-term, you should enter the grade the student has earned while enrolled in your class. If an NC needs to be awarded, the administration will award NC

6. If an Incomplete “I” is assigned, it should be cleared as stated in the C. A. Gray handbook on page 17.

7. If a student is missing an assignment, remember that the “missing” tab should be marked indicating the student’s failure to do the required work. When the student’s average is being calculated, a grade of a zero will be inserted by Infinite Campus.

Finals:

Exams will be administered on the dates assigned; there will be no allowance for students to take assessments early unless approved by the principal.
Students who miss finals will have to have a doctor’s note or be cleared in advance by the principal in order to make them up.
Make-up exams will be given after school on January 4th and 5th. Teachers are required to alter the assessment in a variety of ways in order to ensure some sense of test security. This does not mean that the altered exam should be overly problematic for the student.
Each final will count as 20% of the semester grade.
